Reports suggest that La Liga giants Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool and England defender Joe Gomez as his career at Anfield in the past year has been hampered by recurring injuries.
Joe Gomez, 24, played no part for the Reds in most of last season due to a knee injury and has been hampered this term by calf and groin issues.
Therefore, Real Madrid believe that there is a chance that he could opt for a departure from Anfield at the end of the 2021/22 season, considering that the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig has increased competition for places in the center of Liverpool’s defense.
Meanwhile, Gomes has a three-and-a-half-year contract left to run at Anfield. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp preferred the duo of Joel Matip and Konate when Van Dijk was on the sidelines in the 2 all draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday while Gomez was brought on as a substitute in the last minute of the game.
Real Madrid are considering a move for central defenders although reports are rife that their major interest is in PSG key man Kylian Mbappe.
Regardless, they understand that there is no chance of getting Gomez in the winter transfer window in January 2022.
