Manchester United are growing weary of Paul Pogba’s unenthusiastic approach to the contract renewal offered to him, and it has been reported that an ultimatum has been given to Labile and his entourage to make a concrete decision on his United future before Christmas.
The former Juventus midfielder has been a significant figure for United since he arrived from Juventus in 2016 for a staggering £89 million, a world-record fee at the time and he’s undoubtedly on his best form for the Red Devils since the start of last season.
Apart from his consistent performances, he has also added goal contributions to his game. Pogba, who started the current season on fire made seven assists in the first four Premier League games he featured.
No player has ever done that in the competition’s history or had previously reached that figure of assist so quickly.
The French midfielder has a year left on his current contract with United, without any attempt to elongate his stay or affirmation that he’s committed on paper, Paul would have the latitude to talk with suitors in January and undoubtedly leave Old Trafford.
With the talent that Pogba has, and to think he’s also on his peak, United cannot afford to let their midfield Maestro walk for free in the summer.
The United hierarchy are so desperate to avoid having Pogba’s contract situation drag on into the second half of the current campaign which could potentially overshadow the club’s challenge for trophies.
Therefore, an ultimatum has been presented to Pogba and his super agent, Mino Raiola, they want a decision to be made on his future before the first half of the current campaign which ends on Christmas.
Although regular discussions have been going on under the carpet with his agent Mino Raiola and efforts being made to strike a mouthwatering deal for Pogba’s contract extension in the region of £400,000 a week, nothing concrete has been finalized.
If the new contact is accepted, it will spring Pogba up to the status of the club’s highest and best-paid player ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea.
However, it’s looking like the cunning Mino Raiola has other plans for Pogba. Reports suggest that conversation with Los Blancos is in motion for Pogba’s switch from Old Trafford to Santiago Bernabeu.
Another club showing interest are money bags PSG, the Parisians are ready to add Pogba to their star-studded team with a top offer on the table for the reluctant French midfielder. the Ligue 1 giants are planning an audacious package worth £510,000 per week to lure Paul to France.
The situation is now in Pogba’s hands, he has to decide whether to stay put in Red or switch to where his bread would be buttered more both in finances and laurels. Regardless, United’s decision-makers have enacted a deadline. If by Christmas Pogba does not make his choice to commit, this could trigger their decision to sell him to any of his suitors seeking his service.
Meanwhile, in a different report, Pogba’s brilliant start in this current campaign posed him ready to commit his future in Red. The new acquisitions could have been the cogent reason, with the recent signing of Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane, Man United looked ready to challenge with a title-winning set of players.
United cannot dwell on false hopes especially with their current back and forth situations on the pitch, Saturday’s one goal apiece against the Toffees was preceded by 0-1 home loss to Aston Villa in the league and these are results they could regret at the end of the season.
If Pogba’s situation is not sorted on time, it could further compound their instability and distort the game plans. If Pogba leaves, Franck Kessie of AC Milan is being considered as one of the suitable replacements.
