Leeds United may have lost Raphinha to Barcelona but they won’t be staying calm after such a big loss as they are interested in signing former Chelsea and Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.
According to AS, club director Victor Orta has been in contact with Juan Mata’s father, who plays the role of the midfielder’s sporting representative.
The negotiations appear to be slow although both parties are eager to reach an agreement ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Juan Mata, 34, chose not to renew his contract with the Red Devils and is presently out of contract and can make a move to any club in the world on a free transfer.
It is likely that his move to Leeds United will not be embraced by Man United fans because of the bitter rivalry between the two sides although the Red Devils have been the far superior side in recent times.
Regardless, it would come as no surprise if Mata decides to stay put in the Premier League. Last season, he started just 2 games for the Red Devils and will want to prove that he still has what it takes to deliver at the highest level.
Orta now has to convince the Spaniard to make the move to Elland Road as we all wait to see how both sets of fans react if the move materializes.
