Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has insisted that his side are still very well in the race for the 2020/21 La Liga title and will take the title race to the wire.
This is coming after his side played out a goalless draw against the visiting Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou last weekend, hampering their chances of going top and keeping them two points behind the league leaders.
They also have an inferior head-to-head record against the Rojiblancos this season and must hope that Real Madrid will also falter in their chase for the title. Well, Zinedine Zidane’s men did, as they were held to a 2 all draw at home against Sevilla on Sunday.
Barcelona will rely on favors from other sides to keep the pressure or better still wait till the final day whilst they do all they can to amass maximum points from their remaining La Liga games.
In a chat with reporters on Monday as per El Mundo Deportivo, ahead of the game against Levante, Koeman said:
“We will fight for the league title until the last second.
“La Liga is very even, it is difficult for us to finish strongly due to many things, due to the physique of the players, the volume of games, the pressure to win.
“But the rivals also have difficulties. You have to survive, analyse and prepare the matches. There are fewer and fewer left.”
After this week’s game against Levante, Barcelona will end their home adventures for the season with the visit of Celta Vigo before making the trip to face Eibar on the final day. The latter will be hoping to still be in the fight for survival on the day.
