A travel agent whose name is Maria Silvia scammed Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo of £250,000 after the football star entrusted her with his credit card and pin.

Another victim of the scam was Ronaldo’s super-agent Jorge Mendes. The unscrupulous travel agent swindled the 53-year-old of £14,000 not forgetting former teammate of Ronaldo at Manchester United Nani.

it’s reported that he’s also a victim of over £1,500. As a result of her Malfeasance, Silvia got a four-year prison sentence on Sunday after being earlier declared guilty by a Porto criminal court in 2017.

Nothing they say is done by mistake, the crime was premeditated, Ronaldo was targeted as a victim of Maria’s swindling spree for three years between February 2007 and July 2010.

According to a renowned Portuguese newspaper outlet “Jornal de Noticias”, the five-time Ballon d’Or Ronaldo submitted a statement to the police in 2011. The paper read:

“The travel agent had to plug the hole in the firm’s accounts. She, therefore, began to bill those trips to Cristiano Ronaldo, who had an account at Travel agency-Geostar and for practical reasons, Ronaldo handed the agent a virtual credit card and pin code. Decision made for convenience purposes turned out to be a green route for taking money out.”

According to the report, the staggering £245,770 swindled from the Portuguese Maestro Ronaldo corresponded with around 200 trips that he never made between Portugal to the US, Africa, and other European countries.

Maria Silvia, who currently works as a domestic worker and cleaner, was first questioned in 2013 before her eventual sentence on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

The travel agent convicted as part of her court ruling had agreed to reimburse her agency a sum of £7,680 sparing her prison sentence.
