Games fanatics, it’s 2023, and if you are asking about the best mobile games you can play and enjoy, then my list is for you. In this post, I will share with you some of the mobile games that have caught my interest this year.
And one of the things I found captivating is the gameplay and plot of the game. However, at the end of so many trials, here are my 10 best mobile games in 2023:
- Infinity Blade II
- Tiny Thief
- Galaxy on Fire 2
- Stardew Valley
- Hero Academy
- Slay the spire
- Wayward Souls
- Zombie Farm
- League of Legends: Wild Rift
Let’s briefly talk about the gameplay of the games.
1. Infinity Blade II
Infinity Blade II is an action role-playing game where the player explores a predetermined path in the environment while engaging in one-on-one sword combat with enemies.
The player has limited freedom in choosing their path, but they can explore different areas, gather information, and loot while progressing through the castle.
The combat system includes dodging, blocking, and parrying, and players can also use special abilities such as Super Attack and Magic.
The game also features a mild role-playing element with an experience point system, equipment modification through gems, and a NewGame+ mode.
The game is an improvement from the first Infinity Blade with added features, such as dual wield and heavy weapons, and more options for equipment modifications.
2. Tiny Thief
Tiny Thief is designed in which players control a child-looking thief attempting to steal items from multiple enemies. The game has six quests set in a medieval period and five levels in each quest.
Players navigate the thief by tapping or clicking on accessible areas and picking up certain objects.
The game uses a three-star rating system, with one star given for successfully stealing the main object, another star for stealing hidden objects, and a third star for tapping the thief’s hidden pet ferret.
The game also includes achievements that can be obtained by completing certain tasks.
3. Galaxy On Fire 2
Galaxy on Fire 2 story follows the adventures of Keith T. Maxwell, who is sent forwards in time after a malfunction with his hyperdrive caused by damage from a skirmish in an asteroid belt.
Keith finds himself 35 years in the future and is tasked with various missions, including collecting ore, rescuing hostages, and fighting off pirates and the Void, an alien threat.
Plus Keith’s encounter with Khador, an alien who gives him the Khador Drive, a technology that can transport a vessel instantly to another part of the galaxy, eliminating the need for jump gates.
In the end, Keith helps destroy the Void mothership, and the game ends with Keith going on a date with Dr. Carla Paolini.
Swordigo is an amazing side-scrolling action-adventure game. The player can run, jump, swing their sword, and use magic spells to defeat enemies and gain experience, which can be used to upgrade health, attack power, or magic.
The player can also find new items and equipment, as well as buy items from shops in villages and locations using money acquired from defeating enemies.
Weapons and armor play a significant role in the game, with damage dealt depending on the weapon and armor increasing the number of hearts the player has.
The player can bring up a map at any time and use portals to backtrack to previous areas.
However, in the game, the player controls a young hero who sets out on a journey to find a magical sword called the Mageblade, which is the only weapon that can destroy the evil monsters known as the Corruptors.
The hero’s master is killed by the Corruptors, and the hero embarks on his quest to find the Mageblade, gaining magical spells and equipment along the way.
He eventually assembles the Mageblade, battles the Master of Chaos, and becomes the guard of the King of Florennum before returning to his home village.
5. Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game where players inherit a plot of land and a small house from their grandfather in a small town called Pelican Town.
Players must clear their farmland to restart the farm, tending to crops and livestock to generate revenue and further expand the farm.
They can also engage in fishing, cooking, crafting, and exploring procedurally-generated caves with materials and ores to mine or creatures to combat.
In addition, players can interact with non-player characters (NPCs) that inhabit the town, including engaging in relationships with them, culminating in marriage and the possibility of having or adopting a child with their spouse.
Completing quests or bundles rewards players with various items, including seeds and tools, and grants them access to new areas and game mechanics.
The game also uses a simplified calendar that determines which crops can be grown and which activities can be beneficial, and players can restore a greenhouse and an island that can grow any crop regardless of the season.
6. Hero Academy
The game is a turn-based strategy game that requires players to plan out each step of their turn. Players have one or many crystals and the objective is to eliminate all of the other player’s units or destroy the other player’s crystal.
Units, spells, healing potions, weapons, and armor can be played from a hand that is replenished at the end of each round with random new units.
The game currently contains six factions known as Heroic Teams, including the default team Council, expansion teams Dark Elves, Dwarves, The Tribe, and Shaolin, as well as a Team Fortress 2 team available exclusively to Steam users.
7. Slay The Spire
Slay the Spire is a deck-building game with elements of roguelike gameplay. Players choose one of four predetermined characters at the beginning of each playthrough and progress through levels of a spire by engaging in turn-based combat encounters against various enemies.
Each character has a unique starting amount of health, gold, and a starting relic that provides a unique ability.
Gameplay involves playing cards for attacks and defenses against known attacks from enemies, with a fresh hand of cards provided each turn.
The goal is to strategically build a strong deck with loot obtained from defeating enemies and other encounters.
Completed or failed runs contribute to unlocking new characters, relics, and cards, and up to 20 Ascension difficulty levels are unlocked with each successful completion. The game also features achievements, challenges, and a daily challenge with fixed conditions.
8. Wayward Souls
Six characters are available for players to pick from, and each character has a different attack style with a special ability. Players then enter a dynamically constructed dungeon with multiple floors.
Basic melee or ranged strikes, power attacks, consumables, and location are all used in combat. Traps, treasure chests, forges, and interactions with plot elements can all be found on floors.
After each floor, the player regains a tiny bit of health, and any cash they find can be spent on long-lasting improvements.
All equipment and improvements are lost if the player is killed, although coins are kept. A new, more challenging dungeon can be entered after defeating the last boss. Each individual has a different backstory, yet the overall narrative is the same.
9. Zombie Army Trilogy
Zombie Army Trilogy is a shooter game set in an alternate version of World War II. The game focuses on sniper mechanics with an action-oriented approach and reduced focus on stealth.
The game features appropriate weapons for the era, various types of explosives, and sniper rifle mechanics including wind direction, bullet drop, and holding breath to steady the shot.
The “X-Ray Kill Cam” feature from Sniper Elite V2 is also included in which a successful shot will show an anatomically correct X-ray style reveal of the body part being hit and the damage caused to the organs and bones.
The game measures notable shots by briefly displaying distance and other factors.
10. League Of Legends: Wild Rift
League of Legends: Wild Rift is a MOBA game in the three-dimensional isometric perspective. The game has a similar gameplay to the League of Legends PC version, where the objective is to take down the opposing team’s base.
To be compatible with mobile devices, the game has received adaptations that make it faster, reducing the map size, shortening the respawn time, and accelerating the gold gain.
Matches last approximately fifteen minutes, unlike the PC version where matches last regularly 45 minutes.
There are two different modes, Wild Rift and ARAM. Wild Rift is a 5v5 confrontation, and to win the match, teams work together to destroy the Nexus in the enemy team’s base, bypassing a line of defensive structures called turrets.
The game has a ranked competitive ladder with 10 tiers. ARAM mode is All Random, All Mid, where the champions are chosen randomly, and the battlefield is reduced.
If you ask me; what are the best mobile games to play in 2023, I would say: Infinity Blade II, Tiny Thief, Galaxy on Fire 2, Swordigo, Stardew Valley, Hero Academy, Slay the Spire Wayward Souls, Zombie Farm, League of Legends: Wild Rift.
